For the second year in a row, ISRI member WENDT Corporation has been named the Scrap Equipment Company of the Year by Fastmarkets Global Awards for Steel Excellence.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees. Your experience, talent and passion for innovation excellence is what drives our company forward,” says WENDT President Tom Wendt. “Thank you to our partners, suppliers and our customers for being a valued part of our business and making this recognition possible.”

WENDT‘s nomination for the award highlighted several of the company’s accomplishments. Among them was the launch of an X-ray-based solution called the X-TRACT X6. Launched in collaboration with fellow ISRI member TOMRA, the X-TRACT X6 separates magnesium from aluminum products such as Zorba and Twitch, which opens the door to trading low-magnesium Twitch on domestic markets.

WENDT also opened the WENDT Showroom. Customers use the Showroom to perform material sampling, prove a business case and gain firsthand training from WENDT’s service technicians. The Showroom also features the latest and most advanced technology and equipment available.

In partnership with ISRI member DIDION International, a leader in rotary drum technology, WENDT launched the Metal Polishing Drum Product Line. The metal cleaning and polishing product line is tailored specifically to the metal recycling industry. With the ability to create packages that are bright, polished and clean to the touch, the drums provide WENDT’s customers a competitive advantage beyond metal sorting, the company says.

WENDT also developed the WENDT/MTB EZR Pre-Shredder. The first pre-shredder on the market that offers an electric drive for throughputs up to 120 tons per hour, the EZR is more efficient and dependable compared to traditional hydraulic pre-shredders, WENDT says.

Other ISRI members who received Fastmarkets Global Awards for Steel Excellence include:

  • Scrap Company – Large – North America: Ferrous Processing and Trading.
  • Scrap Company – Small to Midsize – North America: Southern Recycling LLC.
  • Scrap Company – Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA): RKG International FZC.

This is the 12th year for the awards. ISRI congratulates all of the honorees.
